REDUCTION OF CROSS-SENSITIVITY OF INFRARED ALCOHOL BREATH TESTERS USING DOUBLE FILTER TECHNIQUE IN THE 10 urn RANGE

ثبت نشده
چکیده

The cross-sensitivity of breath-alcohol analysing systems is intensively discussed since these instruments are used for evidential breath testing. Besides ethanol other substances can be present in human breath at significant concentrations. In the beginning of the design of such instruments most of the interest was concentrated only on aceton, which can be found in the breath of subjects, who are suffering from diabetics or have fasted for along period of time [1]. But also a large variety of other compounds may occur in the human breath like organic compounds inhaled in the working process or through the deliberate abuse of solvents evaporating from paints and glue, or like methanol after drinking at high levels for several days, even after blood ethanol levels are no longer measurable. Unfortunately, the highly specific analysing techniques for blood samples, like gas-chromatography, are complex to handle or require frequent calibration and are therefore restricted to laboratory use only.

Enhancement of MD-55-2 radiochromic film sensitivity using a multilayer film technique for applications in the low dose range

ABSTRACTBackgrounds: MD-55-2 is one of the Radiochromic film models with the sensitivity suitable for dose measurements ranging from 5 to 100 Gy.  However, this lower limit makes the film impractical for its applications in many areas such as brachytherapy source dosimetry.Materials and methods: In this project, the useful range of the film has been extended by using a multilayer film techniqu...

A Phase Noise Reduction Technique in LC Cross-coupled Oscillators with Adjusting Transistors Operating Regions

In this paper, an intuitive analysis of a phase noise reduction technique is done, and then a modified structure is proposed to achieve higher phase noise reduction than the original one. This method reduces the impact of noise sources on the phase noise by decreasing closed-loop gain in zero-crossings points and moving this high closed-loop gain to the non-zero-crossings points. This reduction...

DETECTION AND MEASUREMENT OF ACETONE IN THE BREATH OF DIABETICS BY ION MOBILITY SPECTROMETRY METHOD

Background: The ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) is an analytical technique that is widely used due to its high sensitivity and speed for the detection of ionized molecules in gas phase and under atmospheric pressure. Breath analysis is a new method for obtaining information about person's clinical conditions that is considered by researchers. Human exhaled air contains a variety of components s...

Circular Mean Filtering For Textures Noise Reduction

In this paper, a special preprocessing operations (filter) is proposed to decrease the effects of noise of textures. This filter using average of circular neighbor points (Cmean) to reduce noise effect. Comparing this filter with other average filters such as square mean filter and square median filter indicates that it provides more noise reduction and increases the classification accuracy...
